Helpful Tips
Five rules of thumb.
Tips that make the difference between a routine that works, and one that just exists.
None of them are urgent, but together, they're the difference between a routine that works and one that just exists.
Don't mix actives that fight each other.
Retinol + AHA / BHA → irritation. Retinol + Vitamin C → debated; easier to do C in the morning, retinol at night. Benzoyl peroxide + retinol → deactivates the retinol. Niacinamide plays well with everything.
Introduce one new active at a time.
Two weeks between additions, so you can tell what's working – or causing reactions.
Wait 30–60 seconds between layers.
Not a strict rule, but stops pilling and lets each layer absorb. Thinnest to thickest, water-based before oil-based.
SPF every single morning.
Even indoors near windows, even in winter. Reapply through the day. This single step does more for long-term skin than anything else in the routine.
Six weeks before you judge.
That's roughly how long it takes to see real change from a new product. Take a fresh baseline at the six-week mark and compare.
